The Future Of Didi and the Yankees

It was no surprise to Yankees fans everywhere when the team made the decision on November 4th to not extend short-stop Didi Gregorius. Its clear now that the team intends on keeping its all-star pair of Gleyber Torres and DJ Lemahieu together within the infield, but what could that mean for Gregorius? Didi has been nothing but solid for the Yankees, posting multiple 20 home run seasons while accompanying that with a career high in RBI’s (87) back in 2017. Backed with some solid defense, Didi did everything Yankees fans thought he wouldn’t after Jeter retired in 2014. I understand the front office decision to not extend him for the 17.8 qualifying offer, but i wouldn’t be opposed to keep Didi around for some solid defense and hitting from our bench. I guess it really comes down to how highly Gregorius thinks of himself, as I feel he could fit in many places throughout the league as a starter. With that being said, if this season was our last time seeing Didi in pinstripes, i feel a collective thank you is deserved for giving Yankees fans moments like these :
